Texans Win!

The Texans won their preseason opener by a score of 16-10. The first unit looked very solid and Matt Schaub was a perfect 7-for-7 for 70 yards (what were Sage's stats from the Vikings win, Mardi?). But the big story of the evening was the 2nd unit. Their play was solid and consistent through 2 quarters.

We were missing a couple of starters from this game. Dunta Robinson is still whining over his contract (he's mad about the "Franchise" tag being placed on him) and our top draft pick, Brian Cushing, is out with a knee sprain. There's no telling when Robinson will finally come to his senses and realize that if he wants to play he needs to sign. Cushing, however, is slated to be back by Week 3 of the preseason. If he doesn't come back that could spell trouble as Gary Kubiak and company have planned their defense around him starting at Outside Linebacker.

This game also marked Kyle Shanahan's debut as the main offensive playcaller. He called a good mix of plays and showed a good feel for how the opposing defense worked. This kid has a bright future in NFL coaching (being Mike Shanahan's son doesn't hurt, either).

I'm sure Mardi might want to make mention of the point differential for this game versus the Vikings game. So, if she wants, I will let her when she makes her next post.

Well, everyone, comments are welcome. Let me know what you think.
